Dear friends, colleagues and supporters,

Welcome to our summer newsletter. It’s been such an extraordinary time. I think it will be a while before we fully process what’s happening to the world. Aside from the truly awful, personal tragedies that the pandemic has brought, it has also brought us rich opportunity, a chance to re-evaluate and to find a way forward that is more mindful and less self-destructive. We will endeavour to ensure Living Song plays a part to this end. We are also reflecting on the possibilities of reaching out more widely as people become familiar with on-line opportunities to learn and sing. This can never replace the wonder of ‘respirating, resonating, phonating and articulating’ together in a shared space, but it is an opportunity to be explored further.

You will find that we have been productive through the lockdown, developing our learning resources for bespoke groups on the website and running choir sessions on Zoom. There have been many discussions about Black Lives Matter with artists and teachers of all ages and ethnicities. Living Song is committed to working with people of all kinds, irrespective of ethnicity, faith, sexual orientation or skill level. Our aim continues to be to build community, develop young leaders and raise the quality and opportunities for everyone to sing, sing, sing!

I hope you enjoy the website updates. There will be more to follow later in the summer, but in the meantime, I wish you all a safe, kind and joyful August.

Jane :)
